Story Begins - You find yourself and your team on a reality tv show to race around the Hunter Valley. Teams of 4-7 people will follow clues, perform tasks, solve puzzles and answer trivia in order to be the highest point scoring team.
Rules : Teams must rely on transport options such as driving, Ihop, electric bike hire, horse and carriage, Uber, taxies, walking, running, Wine Tours or getting a lift from a friend. There are 5 types of tasks that you will see in the race. Each of these are described below.
Route Info: This screen basically just tells you where you need to go next. The app will give you a compass and the distance to your target or a map, in addition to the location description.
Road Block: On the show, only one person may perform the task, but in this game you can all work together. This will either be a task to take a picture or video, or to answer some kind of puzzle. These should take about 10-15minutes to answer.
Detour: On the show, teams get to pick which two tasks they wish to perform. In this game, I will give two different tasks and you may choose which one to do.
Fast Forward: On the show, teams can perform these tasks to skip ahead to the next pit stop. In this game they are trivia questions. Typically, you will either know the answer already or find it on google. Do not spend more than ten minutes on them and please don't rely on asking staff at busy times.
Pit Stop: In each section, once all tasks have been completed you will be directed to the pit stop for that leg of the race. This is meant to be a break in the race, in which you can use the rest room or get a bite to eat and drink some wine. This is meant to be FUN!
We also offer discounts on activities in the area including 10% off electric bike hire and 10% off escape room experience. Also some wine tasting fees are waived so you basically get the app for free!
The Information pages are designed so that as your making your way around the Valley, you can learn a little about each winery and what they offer. This is the virtual Wine Tour section and is not compulsory to read but can also help with your navigation.
The Wine Trivia Pages are designed for some easy points and Wine education fun! These are done between spots.
The Amazing Race is an American reality competition show in which typically eleven teams of two race around the world. The race is generally split into twelve legs, with each leg requiring teams to deduce clues, navigate themselves in foreign areas, interact with locals, perform physical and mental challenges, and vie for airplane, boat, taxi, and other public transportation options on a limited budget provided by the show. Teams are progressively eliminated at the end of most legs, while the first team to arrive at the end of the final leg wins the grand prize of US$1 million. As the original version of the Amazing Race franchise, the CBS program has been running since 2001. Numerous international versions have been developed following the same core structure, while the U.S. version is also broadcast to several other markets. The most recent season, the show's 30th, premiered on January 3, 2018, and aired over eight weeks. On November 27, 2018, it was announced that season 31 would premiere on May 22, 2019.
The show was created by Elise Doganieri and Bertram van Munster, who, along with Jonathan Littman, serve as executive producers. The show is produced by Earthview Inc. (headed by Doganieri and van Munster), Jerry Bruckheimer Television for CBS Television Studios and ABC Studios (a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company). The series has been hosted by veteran New Zealand television personality Phil Keoghan since its inception.
Since the inception of the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program in 2003, The Amazing Race has won it ten out of fourteen times; the show has also won other awards and commendations. Although it has moved around several prime time slots since its inception, the program has averaged about 10 million viewers per season.
